We got on them pretty good this morning, but we had to go hunt deeper water and caught them coming back to one of the reservoirs. We don’t normally hunt there unless it’s at the end of the split. The ducks had gone off feeding overnight and we got some good shooting as they came back in. We had two blinds that did really well. We had a bunch of hunters and fortunately got in on some good shooting. Most of them were teal and there were a mix of other ducks as well.
There were lots of folks duck hunting to end the first split of the Louisiana 2020-21 East Zone season, but there wasn’t a lot of good shooting. A few folks killed mixed bags of deal, mallards and gadwalls, but others had a had time. Limits were scarce. This season has been fair, but there have beeen a whole lot better openers! Hopefully the second split will bring more water, ducks and good shooting. Take advantage of the break to clean up around the blind, make sure everything still looks good and clean your gun and equipment up. Second split will be here before you know it.
