Day 59: Ditchbank ducks

It’s the next-to-last day of the season and conventional duck hunting is in the ditch. Literally.

So that’s where we went, too. We literally found a ditch bank with some cover where ducks were flying and hid out there for our Saturday morning hunt. It wasn’t great, but we scratched out 22. Based on what we are hearing, that was pretty good.

There are still some ducks being killed in the woods and a few in some fields where there isn’t too much water, but there just aren’t that many ducks right now. We’ve had a good season, but it is ending a bit slow. There’s nothing to bring any new ducks in and the ones that are here all know what a duck blind looks like by now.

One more day. Get ’em. And be safe. And wear your rain gear.
