It’s hard to believe, but this week Bussey Brake Reservoir will celebrate its “new” First Birthday. The 2,200 acre lake north of Bastrop has been open to the public for a year after going through a lengthy renovation for almost seven years. The lake reopened July 15, 2020 with a line of more than 100 trucks and boats waiting to get in at the 6:30 a.m. starting time!
The results in the lake have been amazing. Several bass over 10 pounds and at least one over 13 pounds have been caught. Several three pound plus crappie have been landed and this year the big bream were tearing it up!
Celebrate Bussey this week and make sure and come by and see the fantastic selection of fishing baits and gear at Simmons’ Sporting Goods on your way to the lake.
