Social distancing; turkey attracting

Louisiana’s turkey season opens statewide Saturday, April 4 in all parishes open for turkey. You can see a map of the various areas and dates on a map in a previous Turkey Report here. Because of the turmoil going on in the world and the concern over the spreading COVID Virus, turkey hunting won’t be the same this year. People have a lot on their minds.  Turkey hunting 2020 will definitely be different. But turkey hunting is one good way to socially distance yourself in the woods away from people if you can travel safely to and from the woods. If you go, just make sure you take precautions and don’t put yourself or other hunters in harm’s way by taking any chances of spreading the virus.

And while you are working to distance yourself socially, you’ll obviously be wanting to attract the turkeys just a little bit closer for a good shot. Make sure you have all your gear in top shape for the hunt. If you have been planning out of state hunts, make sure you check on any restrictions that may apply because of the current situation.

But if you go, be safe and good luck. And we’ll do our best to keep you up to date on any developments here on the annual Simmons’ Sporting Goods Turkey report. Stay tuned.
