Day 9: Hit or miss

It was another chilly morning, but the weather wasn’t exactly perfect for ducks. The rain overnight and a slow drizzle had the ducks that were flying a bit skittish. Sun and wind are needed for good duck hunting most of the time, not dreary and still. It was fairly good for a while this morning in some blinds, but slowed quickly. There are still a lot of teal in the area and a mix of big ducks, including a few mallards.

Geese are still flying and there are plenty of them in the rice fields. Some hunters are looking at backup plans for this, the last week of the first split. Just remember, you can’t get ’em if you don’t go. And be careful out there.
