Down the home stretch

We’ve got three more days in the 2023-24 duck season and we’ve still got ducks. Hopefully enough to carry us through the end of the weekend.

The weather’s been crazy and all the rain has scattered them out, but there are lots of folks killing limits and taking home enough to make it worth the hunt. There are lots of new “shallow” areas where rainwater has pooled up and if there’s a food source there, they are good spots to check on.

It looks like the end of the season will stay pretty much the same as the earlier part of this week. Sixty days sure do pass fast.

We did kill a good mixed bag strap Thursday morning and one of our hunters got a nice banded duck (in photo, bottom center). That’s always a special bonus.

Here’s a look at the season-ending forecast. As always, be safe!
