I wish I had better news to share. It’s just slow out there. We have had a good reports from a hunter or two, but for the most part, it’s a bust. We hear the same stories from all over the state. Fair one day, bad the next two or three. Opening week down there in south Louisiana was slow for many, but it picked up this past weekend. That may be the birds that were up here that have now headed that way. Now it seems to have slowed again. They have a lot of teal.
For our hunting to get up to speed, we need a good front and some rain. Not just a quarter of an inch either. If you’ve got a better story, stop by and share it with us and we will pass it along.
While things are slow, it’s a good time to double check your blind and make sure you are covered up well. The tougher things are, the more important it is to do everything you can to make things right. Make sure your gear is cleaned and ready to go for when it gets good. And be safe.
