Folks that know me will realize when they read this just how bad the duck hunting is. Here it is, the last day of the first split and I went dry land “duck hunting”.

In other words, I went to the deer stand. I went deer hunting. No kidding.  I did see seven deer, which was a lot more fun that probably just seeing seven ducks and swatting mosquitoes to end the first split.

Speaking of deer hunting, it has been a really good year. Check out our Simmons Big Buck Contest on our website home page. There are some really good deer there. Kelly Bagwell is leading the men’s rifle division with a 169 1/8 monster killed in Lincoln Parish. Click on each category to see the leaders and their photos.

Stay tuned. We’ll be back for every day of the second split with our Duck Report. Here’s hoping for much better results!

In the meantime, if there’s anything you need for hunting or the outdoors, let us know. If you don’t see it in the store, we’ll try and get it for you. Don’t wait until the last minute for that perfect gift for the hunter on your list!
