This is what it looked like in a lot of shallow water duck hunting areas this morning: frozen. The ducks headed to deeper water lakes, ponds, sloughs and backwater and were pretty scattered out. With some work, you could break up the ice, but ducks don’t like to land in conditions like that. Hunters don’t much like it either. The temperature was around 20-24 degrees around the region and the “feel like” number was around 15 degrees.
There were a few folks that had pretty good success, but not as many people were hunting as over the weekend. That was because of work and the cold, I’m sure.
The rest of the week is looking pretty good. It should be good and cold, but not frozen over like today. Stay warm and be safe out there.
