Day 21: Feeling a little better

IMG_3436Just about everybody we talked to today had killed a few ducks. That’s more encouraging news than we’ve been hearing, or what we were experiencing in our blind the last week. I talked to one buddy who killed nothing two days ago, but got 12 today. Another group had a really bad day two days ago, but they killed 24 teal and gadwall today. They are moving before that front that’s coming this weekend.

I’m feeling a little better. Everybody had a better day Wednesday and hopefully that will continue. It is supposed to rain a good bit Friday on up into Saturday morning. I’m not up for five inches, but an inch or so sure would help. It would give the ducks some slash water to lay up in. We have basically none now.

I also see the wind is predicted to shift back out of the south. That’s a good thing when a bunch of ducks have already passed you buy. And they have. A good stiff south wind will bring back some of the ducks that are a couple hours south of us. The key is having some wind to keep the ducks moving. And sunny days are usually the best. The forecast calls for some wind early the next few days. Stick with them. You can’t kill any if you stay home. That’s for sure.

Let me remind you that Simmons’ will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. We will be open Sunday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve for last minute shoppers. We are closed Christmas Day, then reopen for business as usual on Tuesday. We are thankful for your business and appreciate you.  Be safe out there.
