It’s always cool to get a banded mallard like this one! If you do get a banded duck, make sure and report it so the information can be used to better manage our waterfowl populations. That data is important.

Things were about the same Monday as they were this weekend. A few people are killing, but a lot are having to struggle to put together 5-10 ducks. We’ve got a lot of geese in some areas, too, but the ducks were a little slow today.

There are still a lot of teal in the fields and they are usually best early in the mornings. A few folks are killing big ducks, but most of the mallards are coming from smaller holes or the flooded woods.

It’s crazy busy for us at the store and that’s the way we like it. I can’t wait until after Christmas to go get after the ducks more. I’m hoping we get another push of ducks that really picks things up. I’m not complaining, though, because things are much better than they were last year. If you missed the report from a few days ago, check out what Larry Reynolds with the LDWF had to say about the state aerial surveys.

Take care. Get those Christmas presents bought, wrapped and under the tree. And of course, if you need some last minute items for the outdoorsman in your life, you know where to come!  Simmons Sporting Goods!

Be safe out there.
