I think we still basically have the same ducks we have had for weeks and until we get a push from the north, it will remain the same. We killed nine this morning, but had to go in at 8:30 because it’s a busy day at the store.
But some of the other hunters who stayed in the same place we hunted yesterday got 30 ducks. The only catch was they had to stay and hunt until 1 p.m. The main groups of ducks worked between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. I think they are getting smart and are really wary early, then they think all the hunters have gone home and they come into the decoys much easier later.
We had a place earlier in the week that we went because there were loads of ducks there the afternoon before, but they all left before sunrise. We didn’t shoot a duck that day. We are going to try it again tomorrow and hope that maybe they’ve come back. It’s worth a shot.
It should be a cold and windy week and there is lots of cold weather up north of us. It sounds like a broken record, but hopefully it will send more ducks our way. If it doesn’t, I don’t even want to think about it.
