Saturday morning it finally came together for us. Recently we’ve been piecing hunts together with mixed results but we had sun, wind and ducks this morning. That’s the recipe for success. And it was plenty cold so there were no mosquitoes. That’s for sure! We had two groups that both got 30 ducks. Two blinds, two good hunts!. It doesn’t get much better than that.
There’s a big variety of ducks flying. A lot of them apparently have been hunted a good bit because they were really shy of working in close for the most part. We had a few mallards, but not as many as we’d like this late in the season. However, when you start hitting the home stretch, you’ll take whatever you can get.
We sat at four ducks for a long time this morning, then about 9ish it turned on. It seemed like that was the way it was for most folks.
Stay after them. And be safe.
