It was cold, windy and sunny this morning and we were in an ideal spot. Everything was almost perfect except. You guessed it. Not many ducks. We killed an even dozen and eight of those were mallards, but the ducks were few and far between.
We hunted until 9:30 and could have gotten more if we stayed a while, but just didn’t think it would be worth it. I don’t understand it. Things are just strange in our area this year and I don’t know how to explain it.
I do know that they have been hammering them over in the Mississippi Delta around Greenwood the last week. The river is all over the place over there. Up at White River, they say there are 25 miles of sold backwater and that has a lot of ducks holding and spread way out.
We are running out of time for them to get on down here. I always try to be optimistic, but I’m not feeling real good about it right now.
We will see. Be safe.
