There are thousands of ducks migrating south again with all the cold weather up north. That front is moving flight ducks south like crazy. The good news is that there has been some pretty good duck hunting, like today. There are a lot of teal and gadwall. Some mallards are mixed in. But it is hit or miss. Saturday should be a great day, too. Friday was crazy warm for this time of year with highs in the 60’s. But this rain Thursday night will bring it down into the 20’s again the next few days. Expect most of the shallow areas to be frozen over through the weekend.
The good news about those flight ducks is there are ducks migrating! The bad news is a lot of them are way up high and headed further south for open water. Our best hope for a lot of them is that it thaws up late next week and a good south wind brings them back to us.
We are on the downhill side of the season. If you get a chance to go, then take it. You can’t kill ’em if you don’t go.
