You can sum up the duck hunting in northeast Louisiana, even in some of the best spots that are around in one simple word: Poor. It’s been as slow as it can get, even on some of the top spots. It’s just a lull related to the limited number of ducks and the fact that a good many of them have been hunted for a while now.
One thing we’ve been blessed with this year is a ton of geese, like the specklebelly shown the photo in today’s report. Almost everybody hunting in the fields has had luck with the specks and they add some good shooting opportunities, especially on slow days.
Keep after ’em and be safe.
