Day 5: Some good, some bad

Screen Shot 2017-11-22 at 6.49.42 PMWednesday’s duck hunting was much like the first few days of the season. Some folks had ducks. Most folks didn’t. We ended up killing more specks than ducks. That’s really unusual. Some blinds didn’t kill but one or two ducks, but a few up near Jones really had a good day. I think it’s just a deal with a limited amount of ducks and they end up going somewhere different every day. There was one group of four blinds up near Jones that we heard a report on killing a total of 136 ducks and most of them were teal. That’s really strange because we haven’t even seen many teal since opening morning.

Nobody is killing them consistently. We were in Mer Rouge today and it was slow. We didn’t even hear much shooting.

I want to take a few minutes today to say Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from me and the whole family at Simmons’ Sporting Goods in Bastrop. We are thankful for so many things it is only appropriate that we set aside a special day just to celebrate Thanksgiving. We hope you have a good one and you are blessed with safe, happy and successful hunting this season.
