We wish we had better news, but the duck hunting is just slow. There aren’t a lot of ducks to start with and the water has them scattered out everywhere. On top of that, we have a blazing full moon and they are out feeding all night. There is some good shooting early, then they are gone into areas where there isn’t any hunting pressure.
Hunter and his bunch went again and got four ducks and a specklebelly. That was it. They saw a couple of good bunches of ducks, but they were headed elsewhere. By 8 a.m., it’s over. We are hearing pretty much the same from everybody else. They’ve got their lips all pooched out wanting things to get better. Even the dogs have long faces.
I found a good alternative. You know how much I love duck hunting, but I’m actually going out deer hunting again. The deer are in full rut and the bucks are chasing does all over the place. I’m going to give it a few more tries because I know that will be over pretty soon.
Whatever you do, have fun and be safe out there. Tis the season to start Christmas shopping, too, so don’t forget to come by and check out what Santa has for your sportsman at Simmons Sporting Goods.
