Before we start the actual Duck Report today, I want to share this. We’ve been getting entries for the Duck Report Readers prize contest from all over the country. We draw names from random numbers and select the winners. Winner No. 2 in the Simmon’s Duck Report reader’s contest has been drawn. It’s Shane Mooney of Fairhope, AL. Congratulations to Shane. He wins a new Drake Duck Blind Bag for signing up. We have two more prizes – a baby mojo mallard decoy and a $100 Simmon’s gift certificate. All you have to do to enter is go the the “Win Prizes” tab on the right of the page and sign up.
Now, about those ducks: Today we had one thing that we haven’t had in a while — a beautiful sunrise view from area duck blinds! It was clear and a great start to the morning, but there wasn’t much wind which hurt hunting. It’s pretty much the same story. A few ducks are flying, but not tons of them. Hunters had mixed results from killing near limits to not killing hardly anything.
The best hope for the weekend is lots of hunters out keeping the birds moving. It will be cold early, but then warming up during the days this weekend.
Be careful out there.
