It pains me to tell you this, but Hunter and I went out this morning and we got one teal. That’s it. One teal. We left by 8 a.m., so we might have had more chances, but after talking to a lot of other hunters, they did the same thing basically.
With four days left in the season, it sure isn’t the way I want it to end. We saw some teal right at daylight, but we didn’t shoot real well and we didn’t get another chance. We sat there for an hour and didn’t see a duck.
We did have one good group of pintails come in, but again, we didn’t do our job and they got away. And again, we didn’t get another chance. If we would have done everything right, I mean everything, we still wouldn’t have gotten but 6-7 ducks. It was just one of those mornings.
I have another area we’ll try up around Jones tomorrow and we’ll let you know. I hear there are some ducks up there. I’m also hopeful that after the rain gets through here and a lot of folks show up hunting the final two days, it will move some birds and provide good hunting. Four days and counting…
