The first week is in the books and it’s been fair overall. Of course, we would always want more ducks, but there has been plenty of action in some areas. It isn’t the best season start on record. We need some more water so the ducks have a place to rest somewhere they are not getting shot at!
The bad news is that Friday was a slow day. I didn’t talk to anybody that did any good. In fact, some guys went to some of the best spots around and didn’t kill a duck. I’m going in the morning just to make sure. I guess I’m crazy, but that’s part of being a duck hunter. There just aren’t any ducks flying much. Friday we had no wind and that was bad. The few ducks that are here are just going from one place to the other and unless you are in the right place, it’s real slow. It may get worse after this weekend. Arkansas season closes Sunday and they won’t be chasing any birds down our way for a while.
